Linking fiction to areas of study, and interest, is another way to encourage reading. I have lists of books available for the boys, such as medieval, books for gamers, samurai fiction, and war fiction.

So I decided to change my scheduled book talk from dystopian fiction to medieval fiction. Unfortunately I could only stay for half the session, however my last class of the day, and the fortnight, was also in the audience. Last fortnight, on the last day of my book talks, one of my Reading classes was involved in a medieval performance at the school. As all teachers know, occasionally things pop up in the school day that disrupt your planning.
