My Father's Glory & My Mother's Castle by Marcel Pagnol

I wanted to get the next two (and last) parts of his memoirs - The Time of Love and The Time of Secrets, but I could not find them in any of the online bookshops, except for one seller who offers them for a very high price. It is unfortunate that English translations of Pagnol's books are not easily available. The childhood incidents come out as so full of life from the pages of the book that we would feel like we are living with Marcel, little Paul and the baby sister, their gentle and loving parents, uncle and aunt, and friend Lili, among many others - And this would make the last two chapters of the book all the more touching, as Pagnol moves on by twenty years from his childhood in them, and briefly summarizes the happenings of the past two decades. Pagnol's portrayals of the characters is marked with a deep understanding of Human nature and the narrative has a touch of gentle humor stamped on it. In this book, Pagnol remembers his childhood days in the beginnings of the 19th century France - He is surrounded by loving and affectionate family members and friends, and kind-hearted villagers, and the narrative mostly surrounds his idyllic vacations in the 'holiday home' rented by the family in the enchanting hill country. A few weeks back, I got the first two parts in the memoirs (both translated to English by Rita Barisse) that are published together as a single book, and it has been a most touching and overwhelming experience reading this masterpiece, which I would mark as one of the finest books I have ever read. Ever since I watched the two beautiful movies, My Father's Glory and My Mother's Castle, based on childhood memoirs by Marcel Pagnol, I have been wanting to read those memoirs.
